The department of Information Technology is seeking a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator who will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing the universityís data systems infrastructure, primarily servers, storage, and cloud infrastructure, in support of academic, research, clinical, and administrative university functions, and for ensuring their high availability, security, and integrity. The applicant must possess a proven track record with implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of AIX, Red Hat and/or other Unix -Linux type operating systems, IBM POWER systems, Power VM, Power HA, HMC, and NIM in a 24/7 data center environment. Implementation and/or support experience with two or more enterprise SAN architectures and storage arrays (like Cisco MDS, Brocade, IBM DS4000, EMC VMAX/DMX-4/Celerra, NetApp, Dell Compellent/Equallogic, etc...) needed. Familiarity with enterprise backup and restore architectures and concepts (Tivoli Storage Manager preferred) a plus. Other required proficiencies include but are not limited to, Unix type OS patching, Shell scripting and Disaster Recovery testing. Applicant must be comfortable covering from simple to advanced support issues as required and working under pressure. Regular proactive reviews of the Unix/Storage Infrastructure to identify process and procedural improvements needed, methodical documentation and automation of standard processes and technical environments are expected. Other responsibilities include leading technical teams in the implementation of new systems infrastructure, maintaining existing systems, resolving problems, and developing and enforcing procedures. This position will report to the medical campus.

Requirements: Bachelorís degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or another related field is required. Masterís degree in related field highly desirable. Five years of work experience in designing and implementing complex systems infrastructure solutions in enterprise network environments. In-depth technical understanding of systems infrastructure equipment such as servers and storage systems, software including server operating systems, server virtualization/hypervisor platforms and disaster recovery tools. Experience should also include leadership and project management skills that demonstrate the ability to lead a team of technical staff; and proven organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills. Excellent skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
