The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to provide clinical physical therapy services for inpatients at University of Miami Hospital. The incumbent will provide physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations. Progress patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient. Consult with supervising Physical Therapist regarding progress and changes in patient's condition. Document all treatment and other pertinent patient interaction in accordance with UMH policies. Provide relevant education to patient and family regarding home programs and activities. Develop and maintain effective communication with the patient, family and other members of the rehabilitation team. Use treatment tools and equipment safely and effectively. Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Maintain a satisfactory level of productivity according to clinic standards and demonstrate willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need. Participate in quality and safety improvement activities as directed by the Department Director.


Associate of Arts degree. A Physical Therapist Assistant degree preferred. Must have current/valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in the State of Florida. One year of experience is required. Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the APTA. The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice according to APTA guidelines and the state practice act. Good verbal and written communication skills. Any combination of relevant education, work experience, and / or certifications will be considered
