The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Medical Physicist with strong clinical skills to join our faculty. The successful candidate will provide clinical radiotherapy services in 3D CRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, LDR&HDR Brachytherapy, Image-Guided Radiation Therapy programs, including performing of all physics related tasks and QA procedures.  The successful candidate should hold a MS or PhD in physics, engineering, medical physics or related field and be ABR certified with at least 2 years experience in a clinical and research setting. The ideal candidate should have strong technical and communication skills along with a commitment to clinically-oriented research and teaching. Experience in Cyber Knife is highly desirable.  Participation in our physician residency and Masters in Medical Physics programs is expected. Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor faculty appointments are available for qualified candidates.  The salary and level of the position are commensurate with the length, breadth and depth of experience. The candidates with Ph.D. degree and clinical physics residency training are preferred.

The medical physics division in radiation Oncology Department is currently covering four radiation therapy venues: Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH), Sylvester at Deerfield Beach (DFB) and the University of Miami Hospital (UMH).  The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) is equipped with two modern Varian linear accelerators with cone beam CT and arc-based treatment capabilities. There is a 40-slice CT simulator, a new Nucletron LDR/HDR unit, a 3.0T MRI and a Cyberknife at SCCC. The Sylvester Deerfield site is equipped with two new Varian LINACs, including an iX and a TrueBeam.  There are additional Varian LINACs at the University of Miami Hospital (one) and the Jackson Memorial Hospital (two) sites.  The department has active HDR and LDR programs, with a fully functional implant suite at SCCC. The department operates on a completely electronic charting system using EPIC and ARIA. 

The Department of Radiation Oncology has currently 9 physics faculty, 16 clinical faculty, including 3 physician scientists, and eight residents. There are currently four biology research faculty and considerable infrastructure for research.
