The University of Miami, Tissue Bank (UMTB) is currently seeking a Quality Tissue Technician. The Quality Tissue Technician performs functions necessary to assure that all relevant medical record documentation are assembled, reviewed and completed in a timely manner. Ensures compliance of the QA Program in the function of Suitability Review, Technical Review, Quality Control Inspection, Labeling /Repack/Discard and setting final disposition. Ensure that all technical operations are performed in accordance to the Tissue Bank’s Standard Operating Procedures manual and in compliance with Good Tissue Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice regulations.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: High School Diploma or equivalent education is required. Associate Degree is preferred. One year of relevant work experience required, preferably in tissue banking, organ procurement or other related healthcare industry. Excellent interpersonal, telephone, verbal and written communication skills required. Demonstrated excellence in organizational and record keeping skills required. Must be vigilantly observant, detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice and/or Good Tissue Practice regulations preferred. Periodic travel may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance. Some on-call and weekends may be required. Candidate must be certified as a Tissue Bank Specialist by the American Association of Tissue Banks within 2 years of employment. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
