The Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital at The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, is currently seeking a Chief Polysomnographic Technologist. Under the direction for the Chief Nursing Officer and Medical Directors, the Chief Polysomnographic Technician is registered with the Board of Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) and/or the American Board of Sleep Medicine Registered Sleep Technologist (RST). The primary focus for the Chief Technical supervisor will be proper execution of objectives given by Medical Director. This involves proper care and support necessary to ensure quality acquisitions at location(s) which he/she is assigned. Incumbent will also create open lines of communication between the Medical Director and the night technical staff. The person in this position will be responsible for delivering information necessary that may either enhance/impede quality testing at the Sleep Center. Incumbent should know how to actively participate in critical thinking and problem solving situations. The Chief Technical supervisor will be responsible for knowing, providing support, and execution of all procedures necessary at the Sleep Center ordered by physicians.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The primary objectives are as follows: 1) Accountability of proper testing procedures. 2) Scheduling and allocation of night technical staff. 3) Scoring of sleep evaluation using the A.A.S.M. Rules for Scoring Sleep while in process or post-evaluation. 4) Scheduling and allocation of on-call staff.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Associate’s degree and five years of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist is required. Five years of scoring sleep studies and being an on-site supervisor is required. Working knowledge of all sleep study procedures/support and execution is required. BLS/CPR certification is required. RPSGT and/or RST is preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
