The Assistant Scientist will operate the Optic Disc Reading Center for the Advanced Imaging for Glaucoma Study. Duties include the following: Review and update Manual of Procedures for evaluation of glaucomatous discs in consultation with Principal Investigator. Maintain this database of digital stereoscopic optic disc images. Supervise preparation of reports for NEI, for Safety and Data Monitoring Committee (SDMC) meetings, and for other study meetings. Assist in preparation of manuscripts and present posters and presentations at national meetings.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Doctorate (Ph.D.) in ophthalmology or neurology. At least one year of post-doctoral research experience including expertise in evaluation of glaucomatous optic discs. Evidence of scientific excellence through publication and presentations; Excellent communication skills, (both oral and written) is required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
