The Human Subject Research Office (HSRO) provides administrative support to the Institutional Review Boards (IRB). The HSRO assists the IRB in its mission to protect human subjects who participate in research. We are currently seeking an IRB Specialist. The IRB Specialist will be primarily responsible for recording and compiling regulatory determinations at IRB meetings. This position will manage the privileged and confidential institutional review and approval process of all proposed research activities involving human subjects to protect their safety, rights and welfare. The IRB Specialist will be functionally supervised by the Regulatory Analyst within the Board-based pods. The individual reports directly to the Director for Regulatory Affairs & Educational Initiatives.

The IRB Specialist provides senior level administrative support to the Board and HSRO administration. The IRB Specialist is instrumental in supporting the administrative functions by ensuring that submitted research is in compliance with submission requirements in Investigators Manual; Maintaining accurate records of IRB actions; Ensuring Investigators and Sponsors are informed of the actions and findings of the IRB.

This position requires a person who can learn the IRB/HSRO functions, who is skilled in interpersonal relationships, oral and written communication, and who is able to deal with high volumes and rigid deadlines. High level of writing is required. Familiarity with research ethics and methodologies and ability to conduct independent literature research (including Internet-based research) are preferred. Computer literacy is a required skill.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelorís Degree in Business, Education or related field is required. One year relevant work experience. Previous research experience is preferred but not required.  Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
