The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health is seeking a Research Associate 2 that will provide vector biology and ecology and research support for the NIH grant: “Environmental Changes and Mosquito-Borne Diseases in Arid Environments”. The project focuses on vector biology and the ecology of three disease systems: malaria, West Nile virus, and Rift Valley fever virus. He/she will collaborate with scientists from University of Miami (UM), and international institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Latin America-Caribbean (LAC) regions. He/she will help the PI manage and direct ecological studies of mosquitoes and contribute as a collaborator to numerous studies. Primary responsibilities at UM will involve project research management, designing studies, assisting with research, literature searches, and scientific writing.

Bachelor's degree in a science-related field and two years of relevant work experience required. Effective English and Spanish communication skills (both verbal and written) preferred.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Excellent communications skills orally and in writing.Ability to work independently with minimum or no supervision. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
