The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is currently seeking an Assistant Scientist. The Assistant Scientist will be responsible for carrying on studies focused on islet and transplant immune-biology, using human and experimental model tissues, for the establishment and characterization, isolation, culture and analysis of various cell types; maintenance of cell lines, in vivo experiment and analysis, careful planning of experiments in conjunction with the supervisor and meticulous documentation and summarization of the results.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. degree in Biology and previous (at least 1 year) experience in islet biology, diabetes, autoimmunity and/or transplantation immune-biology and related research. Knowledgeable in biochemistry, cell biology, immune-biology. Ability to work independently, dependable, adaptable and available to work after hours and weekends based on project needs. Knowledge of in vivo experimental models of diabetes, autoimmunity and islet transplantation. Good interpersonal communications skills both verbal and written are required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
