The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is a basic science, research oriented department in the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. At the present time the department has 30 faculty members with a variety of research projects. Most of our faculty members are federally funded and it is of utmost importance to maintain fiscal and administrative compliance and control of sponsored and institutional funding.

Our Departmental Graduate Program provides individuals the opportunity to acquire the factual knowledge, theoretical background and technical skills necessary to attain the Ph.D. Degree. Our graduate students enter into our program after the completion of the School entry level biomedical core program (PIBS). Our students are exposed to a broad educational base in the different scientific disciplines and laboratory rotations which introduce students to the wide variety of scientific interests in the Department. Students then choose one area of concentration for their research. The varied scientific interests of the faculty provide numerous opportunities for studentís participation and a broad choice in dissertation research. The program at the present time is composed of 36 graduate faculty members and 22 students.

We are seeking a Program Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Graduate Program. Provide support to Graduate Program Director. Assist in the preparation of the GP annual budget for the Administrative Office, estimate tuition credit projections and process the student's annual payroll stipends. Advise students with all aspects of their graduate training. Maintain and update all student files. Provide the appropriate University offices with the forms needed to delete and/or make additions to a course, as well as submit information on new courses to be offered including course number, section, description and pre-requisites. Assist the Progress Chair with each student's progress committee meetings and maintain files with appropriate documentation of the required qualifying examinations and meetings. Submit admission to candidacy forms to the Graduate School for approval.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Bachelor's Degree and one year of relevant work experience required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
