The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 2. Responsible for performing complex laboratory assignments, including the planning and conducting of projects related to routine biochemistry and molecular biology procedures including DNA damage and repair functional assays, PCR, FACS analysis, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, drug sensitivity assays, primary cell preparation and cell culture purification. Schedule and perform experiments in research laboratory. Solve problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data and maintain accurate records. May need to develop, adapt and implement new lab procedures.

Assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, Sigma plot and other graphics software as needed. Order supplies, operate scientific equipment and maintain accounting files for laboratory. Search literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journal and publications. Review manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Qualified candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or other related field required. Two plus years of relevant work related experience required. Experience in biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology, and cell culture is preferred. Excellent skills in English (both verbal and written) required. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with other employees are essential.

Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, plan proactively, and accomplish goals using well-defined instructions and procedures. Ability to develop tools and processes that increase measured efficiencies of the project.. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
