The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is looking for a Temporary Research Assistant. This position will be an integral part of a project identifying and functionally testing changes due to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Principal duties will involve assisting with histology, immunohistochemistry, and various microscopy techniques. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: tissue processing, sectioning histological material for stereological analysis, generating histological slides for pathological evaluation and quantitative analysis, assisting new lab members with laboratory practice, and developing new staining techniques for stains not used in the laboratory. Designing and performing experiments as needed.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of work related experience in histology/immunohistochemistry. Must be able to work independently and interact with faculty. Computer skills related to data management required. Good communication skills. Must have excellent interaction skills with lab members. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
