The Clinical Access Department, is seeking a Patient Access Representative. This position is responsible for the greeting and registration of patients to the hospital and clinics based on multiple types of services; prioritizing registrations, as appropriate. Obtains pertinent information from patient, informs the patient or their representatives of financial requirements, collecting when necessary according to established guidelines and financial policy for UMMG, UMHC/SCCC and ABLEH. Assists in the daily operation of patient registration, acting as a resource for all co-workers.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: High School diploma or equivalent education and one (1) year relevant experience are required. Experience in a medical office or hospital experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Bi-lingual is preferred. Ability to deal with stressful situations involving public, physicians/staff and insurance company representatives. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when communicating with staff and all outside contacts. Must maintain confidentiality with regards to patient information. Must be capable of handling cash. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel and Outlook is required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
