The Business Office has an opportunity available for a Senior Medical Coder. The purpose of this position is to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, claim processing, and reimbursement. This position will be responsible for applying diagnostic and procedural codes on inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, ancillary services and clinic charts, assigns ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS codes, using 3M encoder, creating MS-DRG or APC group assignments.

High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant work experience required. Completion of a two year program in Health Information Management, with AHIMA approval status is required. Credential in Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). And/ or Certified Coder Specialist (CCS required) by the American Health Information Management Association, or eligible to write the CCS examination in one year. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
