UMHC/Sylvester currently has a very exciting opportunity available for a Chief Nursing Officer.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) provides strategic leadership as the senior executive position responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization. The CNO will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on a facility level. Role assumes 24/7 responsibility.
The CNO is accountable to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care. This role represents nursing concerns on the governing board and at medical staff leadership meetings. The CNO is also responsible and accountable for the overall planning, development, coordination, implementation, management and performance of the following services of UMHC/Sylvester: Inpatient Units, Peri-operative Services, Respiratory Therapy, Infection Control/Employee Health, Pediatric Oncology Services, Physical Therapy. They will also provide management oversight of the University of Miami Hospitals Oncology Inpatient Unit. The CNO is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of these services and will work in conjunction with the Medical Directors on optimizing clinical services, physician programs as well as quality and process flow improvement initiatives. The CNO provides leadership to develop and achieve assigned goals through efficient and effective clinical and operational and fiscal management and is accountable for ensuring that the services are efficiently run in regards to providing quality patient care, financial responsibilities, adequate staffing and scheduling, and accountability. She/he is accountable for implementing effective programs that assess measure and improve the quality of care delivered to patients.


Minimum requirements include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing required, Master's or PhD in Health Administrations, Business Public Health, Management, Nursing Practice or Philosophy preferred. Active and current FL RN license. BLS/CPR certification. Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
