The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department has a position open for an Assistant Scientist to work in the laboratory of the principal investigator. Incumbent will perform research on the role of the signaling microenvironment of ERBB2 and ERBB3 in breast cancer. Specifically the research will evaluate aspects of higher order receptor association in the modulation of signaling outcomes such as proliferation versus apoptosis, as well as the role of raft micro-domain association. The incumbent will perform research activities such as chemical protein and/or lipid modifications and purifications, cell signaling related assays, (Cell culture, stimulation assays, standard immuno assays such as Western blotting and immuno enrichments), fluorescence microscopy and cell sorting. Incumbent will plan and execute experiments independently and participate in the authorship of scientific publications, technical and agency reports, or patent preparation. The incumbent is also expected to present findings in group settings, write and prepare manuscripts and research proposals in collaboration with the principal investigator. Will also serve as the contact person for collaborative projects.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or other related science is required. One (1) year of experience with microscopy methods and small compound purification methods. Experience in analytical chemistry preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications and/or work experience will be considered.
