Department of Psychology, College of Arts & Sciences, has an open Research Associate 1 position. Research Associate will manage a new study of social and language development in preschool inclusion classrooms for children with autism and hearing loss within the IBIS (Interactive Behavior in Schools), PANDA (Play and Attachment) and OWL (Object Word Learning) labs run by Drs. Daniel Messinger and Lynn Perry. The research project is focused on using automated continuous measurements of vocalization and interaction to model developmental change in typical and atypical populations. The position involves interfacing with preschools and parents, data collection via live coding and new technologies, and data/methods dissemination. Additional responsibilities include assistance with recruitment, data management/analysis, supervision of undergraduate research assistants, and interface with the team. Opportunities for substantive research involvement including conference presentation and manuscript submission abound. A two year commitment is requested.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required.
• Prior experience with data collection and entry, strong interpersonal, organizational, computational, problem-solving and analytic skills required.
• Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.
• Prior experience working with young children, especially those with special needs preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Technical and analysis skills, such as experiences using R, python, LENA recorders, etc. preferred.
• Experience obtained while working as a student or in a training environment will be considered.
