The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Research Assistant. This position will be integral in accomplishing the research goals set by the Florida Department of Health as the funding agency for this project. The Research Assistant will serve as recruiter, interviewer, and HIV test counselor for the NHBS-IDU5 2018 sampling phase, which is scheduled to be completed at the end of December 2018. The specific duties and responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, assisting in recruitment of potential study participants following study protocols within Miami-Dade County; screening and interviewing potential study participants; conducting HIV counseling and testing; conducting blood collection according to established study protocols; assisting the Project Director in conducting on-going community research and outreach throughout the project; and participating in all training activities attendant to the implementation of the aforementioned duties.



The minimum qualifications for this temporary position are as follows: high school diploma or equivalent. Ability and willingness to travel to NHBS locations in Miami-Dade County as required. Possess a willingness to undergo required trainings and possess the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the communities in which the target populations are located. Good verbal and written communication skills. Prefer bilingual skills in the English and Spanish languages. Prefer Florida Department of Health HIV Counseling Certification (HIV 500/501). Prefer phlebotomy experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered

Patient safety is a top priority.
