This postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the design and conduct research various nanomedicine platforms for cancer related applications. He or she will work independently in designing, carrying out, and critiquing experiments. This individual will have sophisticated knowledge of cancer biology, molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, nanomedicine, or mouse models of human cancer. He or she should have the quality which will promote new collaborative initiatives with scientists within the University of Miami and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center or elsewhere. Duties may include, but are not limited to, performing complex laboratory assignments, including planning and conducting projects related to understanding effects of various nanomedicines in different animal models; scheduling and performing experiments in research laboratory including tissue culture, routine molecular biology such as qPCR, western blots, histology, microscopy, gene expression profiling, and FACS analysis, basic knowledge on statistics, and basic analytical knowledge. This individual should have problem solving attitude towards scientific research and have ability to execute experiments with technical expertise, should be prompt and efficient in interpreting experimental data, maintain accurate records of research findings with complete analyses of the results. Further, this individual needs to assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point and other relevant graphics software as needed; searching literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journal and publications; presenting data in laboratory meetings and other venues; preparing manuscripts for publication with PI and lab members; ensuring and documenting laboratory adherence to safety standards, especially in the use of hazardous items; assisting with the implementation of new program and initiatives; and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students as appropriate. This individual should be open to learning new techniques, gathering knowledge in new research areas, and gathering new expertise as needed. Must be passionate about research, energetic, and enthusiastic about laboratory work and flexible in working with multiple projects. 

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Life Science, Oncology and/or other related fields. Must be able to work with minimum direct supervision and independent judgment is required. Excellent skills in computer and English (both verbal and written) required. We are looking for a person with experience and background in one or more of the following areas: Cancer Biology, In vivo studies in Rodents, Xenograft models, Mitochondrial Biology, cellular Metabolism, Nanomedicine, Targeted Drug Delivery. Close acquaintance with tissue culture (culturing cancer cells, primary cells, stem cells, patient derived cells), cellular biology, and molecular biology and/or animal studies is desirable.
