The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) of the University of Miami invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in Physical Oceanography and Climate Dynamics. The incumbent will work with scientists in the Physical Oceanography Division of the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and in direct collaboration with scientists at Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) of University of Miami.

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral research associates with strong backgrounds in numerical modeling and analysis of large-scale ocean and atmosphere datasets. Successful candidates will join a research team at NOAA/AOML to use ocean and/or coupled atmosphere-ocean models to study the inter-ocean exchanges and regional sinks of heat, freshwater, and carbon associated with the global overturning circulation.

• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or Atmospheric Science or a related field.
• A demonstrated ability in publishing results in the peer-reviewed literature.
• Highly desirable qualifications include knowledge of Unix and Fortran, and the ability to run ocean or coupled atmosphere-ocean models.
• Prior experience with the NCAR’s Community Earth System Model (CESM/CCSM) or GFDL’s Modular Ocean Model (MOM) is desirable, but not required.
