The Director of Information and System Services for the University Advancement Division is responsible for providing daily oversight in the planning, development, deployment and maintenance of information and system services. This individual will oversee teams that are responsible for functional areas such as web and application development and support; data warehouse development and reporting in a MS SQL Server platform; desktop support. These teams will fulfill data and report requests, provide end user support, investigate and resolve application, transactional and data-related issues of enterprise fundraising software, including Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge (RE) and/or CRM (BBCRM), and NetCommunity (BBNC) and/or Internet Solutions (BBIS), Lumniate Online and other associated products. They will also develop and maintain data integrations with other University-wide systems such as Campus Solutions and Workday Finance.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Guide day-to-day execution of department initiatives focusing on accuracy and timeliness in order to meet short and long-term goals.
•Ensure high-quality customer service while promoting end-user satisfaction through the development, enhancement and support of Advancement's fundraising applications.
•Manages long-term projects while comprehending and tracking at the detailed level.
•Maintain vendor relationships monitoring quality of work, resolution of issues and expenditures.
•Oversees and enforces best practices in software design life cycle (SDLC), change management and quality control while ensuring business continuity at the staff and code/script level.
•Implements effective business analytics practices that drive improved decision-making, efficiency, and performance.
•Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues.
•Communicates advancement data and Information Services-related business policies and procedures to development staff, campus users, volunteers and constituents.
•In collaboration with University of Miami Central IT, plans and implements system upgrades and patches with minimal downtime.
•Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security and optimized performance at the application and database level.
•Reviews, evaluates and develops proposals for new initiatives and make recommendations regarding tools, software and vendors as appropriate.
•Provides hands-on technical resolution and assistance where applicable when needed.
•Responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, work plans and evaluation of department staff.
•Develops annual initiatives and prepares the annual operating budget for department.
•Instills in Information and Systems Services staff a holistic view of their role within University Advancement and the larger university community.
•Protects confidential information.

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or a related field.
• Minimum five years related work experience, preferably in a Microsoft environment.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience of full-time IT professionals.
• Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of SQL or similar query language required, T-SQL preferred.
• Experience utilizing report design/visualization software such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Excel PowerPivot.
• Experience in a non-profit education setting and an understanding of fund raising fundamentals preferred.
• Possess knowledge of various hardware and software systems, database development and reporting, security, and IT project management.
• Proven management skills that foster an open dialog with all department staff.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects in varying complexity.
• Strong problem determination and resolution skills.
• Self-motivated and have willingness to commit additional time and effort necessary during periods of heavy workload in order to meet project milestones and implementation deadlines.
• Detailed oriented and organized with an ability to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise confidentiality and good judgment when working with sensitive issues.
• Ability to effectively communicate with users of diverse backgrounds and skill levels—from the novice user to the expert programmer.
