The Department of Pathology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is seeking a per diem Phlebotomist. The Phlebotomist performs patient phlebotomy by prescribed technique outlined in Phlebotomy Procedure Manual. Reviews test orders, reads patient identification, performs venipunctures and fingersticks, and documents times of collection and results. Relates and interacts well with patients relative to their age specific, physical, and psychosocial needs. Uses the laboratory and hospital systems to accession data and to perform other appropriate system functions as needed.



The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: High School diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy, HIV and CPR certifications required. One year of relevant experience performing phlebotomy functions in a medical setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate well. Solid computer skills. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, certification and/or work experience may be considered.
