Status: Part Time

The Law School Communications Department provides web, print, e-Communications and media relations support services to the entire Law School community, including faculty, administrative units, students and student organizations. The Web Designer, working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and Associate Director of Digital Communications & Web Development, will be responsible for updating the University of Miami School of Law’s website daily with content generated by the Law School’s various constituencies. In addition, Web Designer must have knowledge of proper web page and site layout, must have experienced using graphic editing tools and must be familiar using content management systems for web sites.

Reporting Relationship: The Web Designer (Web Content & e-Communications Designer) reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications, providing guidance on policies and initiatives and overseeing implementation of web update requests.

Duties and Responsibilities: Managing implementation/development of content changes and enhancements to the Law School website in over 40 program website sections, over 50 faculty website sections, and more than 30 administrative website sections; create and maintain multimedia content web applications; work in a collaborative environment with faculty, administration and students to create and maintain excellent web assets; analyze and make recommendations for web site updates according to current industry standards. Working with the Associate Director of Digital Communications and Web Development in the production and dissemination of weekly, monthly and quarterly electronic communications; assisting in the production of other electronic collateral materials; oversees the development of new features into the website; create and maintain graphic files for web use; create, write and maintain web content for Law School units/depts. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years’ professional experience, or an appropriate combination of education, certification and work experience; proven ability to manage projects and multitask in a deadline-intensive environment; working knowledge and practical experience using (X)HTML, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and FTP. Knowledge of CSS and PHP programming languages are a plus. Demonstrated professional manner with all Law School constituencies, strong communication skills, reading comprehension and excellent grasp of modern electronic communications (e-mail, AOL Instant Messenger, Skype) also are required. Candidate must also be able to work remotely and possess a computer or laptop capable of connecting to the Internet and the Law School's web servers via Remote Desktop. Position #048737
