The Clinical Abstractor will assist with data collection and analysis, education and implementation of new concepts as it relates to service lines under the guidance of the Quality Director and Managers of the various service areas to achieve the goals of the department and hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program. This position requires thorough knowledge of data collection, performance improvement activities, medical terminology, Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. Essential responsibilities include: the ability to retrieve, communicate, and present data and information verbally and in writing, a professional demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians and employees; and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Graduate of an accredited school of higher education. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Current Florida RN/LPN licensure. This position requires thorough knowledge of critical care/emergency care procedures and clinical assessment and critical thinking. This position also requires thorough knowledge of medical and surgical quality assessment and performance improvement activities, medical terminology, Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements, policies and procedures; also, ability to communicate and interact with patients of all ages is required. Self motivated and works independently, critical thinking and ability to analyze information. Excellent communication skills. Excellent computer skills with Microsoft software, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, etc. Ability to abstract, analyze and report data.
