The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Departmen of Sylvester Comprehensive has an immediate opening for a Research Associate 2, SOM. The Research Associate 2, SOM will be responsible for manage ACS-funded projects developed to understand the psychosocial and biophysiological aspects of the quality of life of colorectal cancer patients and their family caregivers during early to mid-term survivorship phases. Individual will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of data collection and dissemination of the findings. Assist the P.I. in establishing and facilitating a network of medical professionals who will help refer eligible study participants to the study and assist in maintaining the relationship until the completion of the longitudinal study. Identify and recruit eligible cancer patients and their family members (study participants). Assist P.I. in developing study materials. Oversee the IRB process and ensure that the highest ethical standards are followed in research activities. Serve as liaison among P.I., medical professionals and student interns. Administer questionnaires to study participants. Collect biobehavioral data from eligible participants. Manage and report the study budget.

B.S. degree in Psychology, Public Health or other related field required. Two years’ work related experience. Individual must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, highly organized, pay attention to details, motivated, and work independently as well as with others in a research environment. Excellent English/Spanish skills (both verbal and written) required. Knowledge and understanding of research methodology, psycho-oncology, basic statistics, and concepts of cultural competency. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
