The Office of Medical Compliance is currently seeking a Compliance & Integrity Officer. The incumbent will serve as a key member of the Medical Compliance Office leadership and supports the integration of the UHealth Compliance Program with the University of Miami Compliance Program. Work with the CMCO and the CEO of UMH to oversee the UMH Compliance Program; design, conduct and report on audits and risk assessments of healthcare operations at UMH as relates to Billing compliance, Privacy, Anti-kickback, Stark, and as directed; work with the CMCO to prepare and present risk assessments and audit results to stakeholders; and ensure quality improvement by developing materials to ensure that any identified process gaps derived from audit observations are addressed.
The incumbent will also assist the CMCO with internal and external audit requests and evaluate the adequacy/effectiveness of internal controls designed to ensure that processes lead to appropriate execution of regulatory requirements and guidelines; serve as a resource to UMH and its clinics in establishing methods to identify risks, improve efficiencies and reduce vulnerability to fraud, abuse and waste; manage audit outcomes and conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and potential risk areas; and facilitate the development and recommendation of corrective actions to ensure continued compliance. Maintain current knowledge of changes in healthcare compliance; be able to coordinate, develop and conduct training programs for UMH stakeholders; and must represent the UHealth System and the Miller School in an ethical and professional manner.
Bachelor's Degree and three years of experience required. Nursing degree preferred. Advanced degree in relevant are (JD, MD, PhD) strongly preferred. Certification in Medical coding or health care compliance preferred (CHC, CPC, CCS, CPMA, RHIT, RHIA, AHIMA, or AAPC). Minimum three years professional experience that includes some combination of general healthcare compliance anti-kickback, Stark, conflict of interest, medical coding, billing, auditing is preferred. Any appropriate combination of education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
