Work Location: Coral Gables Campus

The School of Business Administration is seeking an Academic Advisor to advise students about university policies, programs of study, degree options, and on possible consequences of academic decisions; recommend co-curricular activities such as study abroad and internship opportunities, leadership development, and graduate school.

This individual will coordinate with other advisers regarding scheduling, majors/minors/cognates, course sequencing, dropping and adding coursework, and policies related thereto. As well as, provide each assigned student with 8-semester plan that takes into account graduation requirements, curricular alternatives, and potential career paths identified by student. Recommend to the Director and Deans in Undergraduate Business Education plans of action to manage the retention of students who are “at-risk” (e.g. required to leave the university for academic, financial or social reasons). Coordinate with Senior Academic Advisor regarding activities – as well as logistics and payroll – of Teaching Assistants and Peer Counseling Program. Coordinate with Senior Academic Advisor regarding weekly communication of co-curricular activities to undergraduate student body via social media and other channels. Coordinate with Director of Registration and Scheduling to gather and manage data for reporting student-related statistics for all purposes, including BusinessWeek and other compilations documents to be used for internal office, SBA, and external consumption. Support all the programs and co-curricular events for the undergraduate population including Open Houses, graduation, senior awards, and business clubs. Participate in School/University-level committees as requested.

The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience providing academic advisement to undergraduate students. Postion #047848
