The Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute is seeking a Senior Veterinary Technician to provide daily care for various species of animals. Duties will include daily observation, feeding and watering; sanitizing and/or sterilizing animal cages and equipment; exercising and providing environmental enrichment. Assist Research staff with animal procedures such as collection of biological samples and the administration of medications and treatments.

Receiving and storing materials/supplies as well as maintaining animal records. Perform various medical tests on animals, including drawing blood and preparing tissue samples. Treats and diagnoses medical conditions and diseases. Obtains and records animals’ case histories, exposes and develops x rays and radiographs. Preparation of treatment rooms and medical instruments and sanitizes the workplace and is responsible for the preparation of veterinary exams. Holding or restraining animals while the veterinarian performs an exam and weighing animals. Prepares and administers medications orally or topically.

High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of work related experience is required.. Knowledge of animal care, including specific expertise with handling and care of non-human primates and viral antibody free rodents is preferred. Ability to work independently and with teams and excellent skills in English (both verbal and written) required. Knowledge of basic computer skills is required.

This position requires you to drive on behalf of the University. All qualified candidates must have a valid unrestricted State of Florida issued driver’s license and good driver record with proof of valid insurance.
