Location: Coral Gables Campus

The University of Miami is seeking to fill the new position of Assistant Director for the student center complex, comprising the recently-refurbished University Center (195,000 sq ft, built in 1965); and the new Student Activities Center (119,000 sq ft), under construction and will open summer/fall 2013. Outdoor spaces include two patios, a stage, and a double-Olympic-sized swimming pool. Inside is the campus Rathskeller, lounges, meeting rooms, a number of non-UM businesses, other UM departments, the Bookstore, and Dining Services food locations. The Assistant Director is an integral part of the day-to-day management and long-term planning functions of the Student Center Complex. Primary responsibilities include oversight of Reservations/Event functions, Information Desk functions, Marketing & Media operations, and coordination/liaison with catering companies and in-house food service capabilities. For all areas of responsibility, selects, trains, and evaluates staff, students, and interns. Responsible for developing and implementing building policies and procedures. Serves on University committees and task forces as required. Assist in development of the annual budget. Conducts research and assessments to enable continuous improvement of services and facilities.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in student affairs, marketing, hospitality. Masters in Higher Education Administration, Hospitality Management or related preferred; some nights/weekends required. Experience with event management software required.
