Work Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Library Communications Technician will coordinate and create library communications materials, promotional, and educational items beneficial to the initiatives of the University Libraries. The person will also develop online and print promotional materials that include newsletters and brochures. The person will coordinate the selection and design of promotional materials for the library and other communication pieces such as the HurriCAN, posters, and Library signage. The person will also assist in coordinating the Library’s marketing efforts among various affiliate libraries, organizations on campus, and social media outlets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate and assist with design of online and print promotional items and tools such as newsletters, invitations, brochures, and other materials; provides communications and design support to the library’s fundraising initiatives; assist with the development of posters for special activities or events, and maintain appropriate Library and University branding; maintain the Libraries online News & Events web pages and the HurriCAN to promote activities, services, and resources; ensures that all Library materials adhere to Library and University branding; works with Library faculty and staff to create online news entries for the Library’s web site; assist with Library exhibition collateral which may include creation of exhibition labels. Coordinate and assist in production of videos for Library exhibitions and events including videography for lectures/talks; assist with photography during Library events as needed; work with various University groups for coordinated promotion of Library events on campus; assemble and update press kits including producing CD's/DVD's of press images and PowerPoint presentations; prepare materials for external distribution, which includes social media outlets; disseminate promotional items to all students and faculty members when applicable; performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design preferred, and a minimum of 1 year of work experience.; demonstrable skills in graphic design. Must be prepared to provide portfolio of work; computer skills and proficiency in Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) design and multi-media software, multi-media equipment; proficient in Mac computing environment; excellent communication skills; strong self-motivation and team player; creative individual with the ability to generate ideas and work in a changing environment.
